Common questions

How do I open the grown-ups area?

Press and hold the gear button ⚙ in the corner for about two seconds. Settings, child profiles, progress and purchases are all in there. The hold is there so little fingers don't open it by accident.

The app didn't hear my child. What should I do?

That's normal, especially with very young voices. Tap Got it if your child said the word, or Not yet if they didn't. You're the backup, and your answer counts the same.

If the app never seems to listen, check that the microphone is on in your device's Settings › Little Echo.

Which ages and languages is it for?

Little Echo is made for children about 1½ to 5 and the grown-ups who learn with them. It starts with English, Thai and Mandarin Chinese, with more languages on the way. As more arrive, each child will be able to learn up to five.

Why do I need an account?

Your free family account keeps each child's progress safe and in sync, so you can use Little Echo on your phone and your child's iPad, add up to 10 children, and share with another parent or caregiver. Signing up takes one tap with Sign in with Apple, or an email code. No passwords.

How do I add another parent or a new device?

On a new device, sign in with the same account. To add another parent or caregiver, open the grown-ups area, choose Family and send them an invite.

How do I delete my account?

Open the grown-ups area, choose Account, then Delete account. This deletes your family's information from our systems within 30 days. If you have a subscription, cancel it with Apple too, since deleting the account doesn't stop the app store from charging you.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Little Echo. Turn off renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You keep full access until the period you paid for ends.

I got a new device. How do I get my subscription back?

Sign in to your Little Echo family account and your subscription comes with it. If it doesn't show, open the grown-ups area and tap Restore purchases.

Can I get a refund?

Apple handles payments and refunds. You can ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I delete my child's information?

In the grown-ups area, open the child's profile and choose Delete. It's removed from all your devices, and from our systems within 30 days. Read more in our privacy policy.

Does Little Echo have ads or record my child?

No. There are no ads and no tracking. The app listens for a few seconds after each word to hear your child say it back, but it doesn't record or keep the audio, and it never sends it to us.
